2009 New Year - Time for a New Ride

Well a couple of years have drifted on and we've come to another big bike adventure. Last years got canceled due to some inadvertent child's play by a member of our riding team who will remain unnamed. But Kevin has promised to stay off of skateboards until after the big ride.

Dates are set for May 22 - May 31 and we've doubled the number of riders to 4 from the 2 that went last time. And the destination, none other than the great Smoky Mountains and a bunch of points and friends and family inbetween. We're making the final plans now and may just head to your area so if you've got some extra rooms and covered parking for four awesome V-stroms, a little bit of extra food in the fridge, then we may just come a knocking.

The trip will be ten days and route us from as far away as Colorado, through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Missouri and maybe some more. In all, about 4k miles on some of the best twisted and bent roads this country has to offer.

As before we'll take plenty of pictures and keep you posted on the adventures and happenings with the group. Believe me, when you ride with this bunch, just about anything can happen and usually does. So set your bookmarks here and check back before and then after the trip. Not sure how much time we'll have for posting during the trip as the days are pretty packed. But we'll take plenty of pictures to document the travels and fun along the way.

So what's with the Valkrider name and I'm not riding a Valkyrie... long story, but the bottom line is, in the twisties, the Valk has a hard time keeping up with the likes of the long-legged and nimble V-strom. And I was dragging too many hard steel parts, becoming a threat to the local forestry from the sparks that flew up in the tight corners. So, I purchased a Suzuki V-Strom last year so I could be as lean and fast as my little brother, on the bike that is anyways. And our two other riders purchased identical V-Stroms also so we'll be a posse of different colored horses, but all looking alike. I just have the fastest one because it's red. The others, blue, gray and black just can't match the speed, beauty and grace of the red one. But don't take my word for it... when we stop by your place you can see for your self.

We'll post more on the trip plans later along with the route when we get a bit more of the details worked out. So, sit back and rest awhile till the next post, we'll try to keep you informed.
